Here We Go Round The Mulberry Bush. [Tangent Magazine]

Mulberry is in bloom for Spring / Summer ’11 and everything in the garden is coming up roses.

The latest collection from Mulberry is inspired by the timeless children’s classic ‘The Secret Garden’ and will transport you to a wonderfully whimsical world where nothing is as it seems.

The colour palette plays with refreshing neutrals and splashes of brights to make you reminisce about sunshine, lemonade and sand between your toes.

The use of ethereal metallics and trippy, graphic prints make you want to get a cocktail in hand, dance up a storm and end up sleeping in your clothes.

And, of course, it just wouldn’t be a Mulberry season without an irresistible array of prints, and the three that feature in this collection are so English and so very Mulberry!

Frills and bows are aplenty, appearing in all manner of ways – some you expect and others are unexpectedly delightful. And some frills are so big that they’ve been upgraded to ruffles.

Not surprisingly, the latest Mulberry accessories are equally to die for.
Totes. Clutches. Shoulder bags. Beach bags. Mulberry have got it all.

And the colours? Well, you’re spoilt for choice. Black. Chestnut. Peach. Electric Blue. Watermelon. And it does go on...

The latest collection from Mulberry achieves a beautiful blend of charm, iconic detailing and playful surprises that is sure to dominate our summer attire and make our favourite season even more worthy of this favouritism.

With A Good Dress Will Come A Good Man. Right?

Sure, being married to a prince would be heavenly. But the likelihood of this happening is pretty close to impossible for almost all of us. So, it seems instead we'll just settle for looking like the soon-to-be Princess of England.

Less than 24 hours after the royal couple announced their engagement, the sapphire-blue Issa dress that Kate Middleton was wearing had sold out in London. And those that missed out on getting their hands on this gorgeous piece of attire were apparently demanding any blue dress.

Surely we're not that desperate and lacking individuality? I truly hope not.

Maybe it's more that we're convinced that a good dress leads to a good man - a philosophy that is sure to have some truth to it.

Oh, a girl can always hope.

Oh Sandra Suy. How Do You Do It?

Sandra Suy's fashion illustrations magically invoke feelings of inspiration and envy.

I don't know how she does it. And, I guess, therein lies the appeal.

She even makes me, who is not even slightly artistic or creative, want to pick up a paintbrush and have a go at putting paint to canvas.

It's lucky I know that all that could come of that is an unfortunate mess. And who am I kidding, I don't even own a paintbrush.

"There is something about words. In expert hands, manipulated deftly, they take you prisoner. Wind themselves around your limbs like spider silk, and when you are so enthralled you cannot move, they pierce your skin, enter your blood, numb your thoughts. Inside you they work their magic."

- The Thirteenth Tale, Diane Setterfield

Twenty8Twelve - Fashion Through The Eyes of Sienna And Savannah Miller. [Tangent Magazine]

It seems Sienna Miller and her equally stylish sister, Savannah, can’t put a fashionable foot wrong, and their label Twenty8Twelve is no exception.

Picture this –

A beautiful, feminine woman. In men’s clothes. At a peace rally. During the Vietnam War.

Twenty8Twelve, the fashion label brought to you by Sienna and Savannah Miller, embraces the juxtaposition of these contrasting elements, offering fashion that is textural, ambivalent and strikingly imaginative.

The beauty of the latest collection from Twenty8Twelve lies in its inconsistency.

The collection is called ‘Swimming Horses’, but the concept behind the collection has nothing to do with swimming or horses.

In fact, the collection is divided into three concepts – none of which are even remotely related.

Through a panorama of colour and texture, you are initially taken to the Scottish Highlands. Tartan, acid-washed knitwear and utilitarian detailing bring the vibrancy of this vision to life.

Then you are promptly swept away to a ‘70s rock concert with a distinguished ‘90s edge. Glamorous and dishevelled proportions are played with. Fringed shoulders, abstract prints and lurex sparkle perfectly capture the glam-rock inspiration.

And finally, just when you think there is nowhere left to take this collection, you are mingling with the Soho Club kids of the ‘80s. Mixing colourful sportswear with tribal prints, this part of the collection is strong, sexy, youthful and refreshingly experimental.

Twenty8Twelve provides the perfect avenue for Sienna and Savannah Miller to share their individuality and distinct style with the rest of the world.

And, it is this distinct style that has earned the Miller sisters and Twenty8Twelve somewhat of a cult following since its beginnings in 2009.

Oh, and of course the fact that pretty much everyone wants to be Sienna Miller. Even if only for the fact that she gets to pucker up with Jude Law.

i heart I R O - So Does Everyone Else, It Seems. [Tangent Magazine]

If the Parisienne’s are loving it, you know it must be good. And, if the celebrities are catching on, then you know it’s destined to be big.

Worn by the likes of Vanessa Paradis, Anne Hathaway and Jessica Alba, the French label, IRO, is quickly becoming quite the must-have.

And the latest collection gives you a pretty good indication as to why.

IRO’s Autumn/Winter ‘11 collection offers an eclectic blend of two opposite ends of the fashion world that is certain to get heads turning.

Imagine a magical romance between an enchanting woman from the Middle East and a French man that looks so good you want to eat him. Throw in a military touch, and there you have it, IRO’s Autumn/Winter ’11 collection.

Using beautiful natural tones, atypical cuts and a jungle of prints, this collection expresses a strong-yet-feminine mood with a distinct vintage feel.

An unlikely mix of colours, textures and silhouettes has surprisingly alluring results that are sure to make the hip and trendy swoon.

IRO was launched in 2004 by French brothers, Laurent and Arik Britton, who wanted to create bold yet simple pieces that were instantly, effortlessly chic.

This is a rather ambitious aspiration given that the Britton brothers had come from the music industry with little to no design experience.

But what they lacked in experience they made up for with a strong vision, channelling their love of rock music into the medium of fashion.

And, I think these French boys have achieved their aim.

Every piece of IRO’s collection could be worn day or night, and exudes a unique style that would feel at home in anyone’s wardrobe in any corner of the globe.

Pretty impressive for a couple of musicians.
